Countess Rune Word Reference

Version 1.1

1.1 changes:

  • Moved Ancient's Pledge, Holy Thunder, Zephr to Normal Countess as it is so easy to cube an Ort in 1.13.
  • Added notes for Rune Words that have bases that can't be found till later than listed.
  • Moved Memory, Smoke and Splendor to Nightmare Countess as it is possible to cube a Lum.
  • Added Rune Words containing Gul/Vex as these can be cubed from Hell Countess Runes.

This reference is meant to complement The (Hopefully) Definitive Guide to Running the Countess (in Hell difficulty), read that for complete information on running the Countess for Runes.

The concept here is to help an untwinked character to get some decent gear during their journey through the game. The character runs the Countess for Runes at each difficulty until they get all the Rune Words useful for their build. The character then continues as normal till the Countess at the next difficulty and gets the useful Rune Words available at that level.

Normally a Sorceress is the best character to use for running the Countess as teleporting past all the monsters speeds things up greatly. However, killing all the monsters on the way may be a good idea as getting the socketed items could be the main brarrier to getting these Rune Words! For this reason this strategy will work well for any class/build.

Note that whilst the drop rate of high end Runes has been increased in 1.13 the range of Runes the Countess can drop remains the same.

[highlight]Normal Countess[/highlight]

In Normal the Countess drops from El to Ral. With the Rune drop changes in 1.13 El and Eld are now least common and Tal and Ral drop regularly. It is very easy to cube an Ort; Rune Words containing up to Ort are listed here.

In Nightmare the Countess can drop up to Ko, however this is from her normal drop, so it's rare. From her special Rune drop she can drop from El to Io which is more common. It is possible to cube a Lum from her drops; Rune Words using up to Lum are listed here.
